Very Cautious Ambition Level
'aka' The Steward
Behavior: Risk-averse, hesitant to invest, takes losses to heart.
Common Biases: Inertia, status quo, regret avoidance, anchoring, loss aversion, endowment effect.
The Steward embodies the cautious investor, placing a premium on the preservation of capital. Typically seasoned and possibly having weathered financial storms such as the 2008 financial crisis or the 2020 pandemic, Stewards have developed a cautious approach to investment. Their reluctance to make investment decisions often stems from a fear of making mistakes, leading to an overemphasis on short-term market movements, which can cause considerable anxiety.
Cautious Ambition
'aka' The Builder
Behavior: Confident, prepared to take risks.
Common Biases: Self assured, an illusion of control or bias.
The Builder is driven by the goal of wealth accumulation and is willing to embrace risks to achieve it. Often successful in their professional lives, Builders are generally receptive to financial advice but may occasionally assert their influence over the investment process. Their high confidence can sometimes lead to discomfort when investments do not perform as expected, as they grapple with the reality of their limited control over market outcomes.
Moderate Ambition
'aka' The Chaser
Behavior: Goes with the flow, passive, susceptible to Fear of Missing Out (FOMO).
Common Biases: Herding, recency, hindsight, regret aversion, framing, cognitive dissonance.
The Chaser typically follows popular investment trends and may delay seeking professional advice. Often lacking a structured investment plan, Chasers are influenced by market sentiment and trends, making them prone to buying high and selling low. They tend to react to market news and peer behavior, which can lead to impulsive investment decisions.
Ambitious Ambition
'aka' The Enigma
Behavior: Engaged, analytical, often contrarian.
Common Biases: Availability bias, confirmation bias, representativeness, self-attribution bias, overconfidence.
The Enigma is an independent and often contrarian investor who relies heavily on their own research and analysis. They are engaged and opinionated, frequently challenging conventional wisdom and preferring to make their own investment decisions. However, their analytical nature can sometimes lead to biases, such as confirmation bias, where they only seek information that supports their views.
